What role does an attorney play in an auto accident in which all the parties are covered by insurance?

My wife Buy Generic Drugs Without Prescription was involved in a multi-vehicle accident started by another driver in which four cars were totaled and some people were injured. It appears that everyone is covered by insurance. If insurance is covering the situation, why would one of the drivers retain an attorney to sue the other drivers?
