First DUI in California, what will happen and should I get Lawyer?

Hi a couple nights ago I got a DUI in Los Angeles, California for the first time. I definetly will never drink and drive again. Should I get a lawyer, will it help or is it a waist of time. I know Im gonna get slapped with some fines. Would it be cheaper to hire a lawyer? If I could get some feedback on personal experiences that would be great thanks.
